Locked out of eFit is the second most common reason students contact us. Almost all of it is one of three situations, and two of them you can settle in about two minutes.
Reset your password
- Open Password Reset, or select Forgot password? on the sign-in page.
- Enter either your registered email address or your username. One is enough.
- Answer the small addition question underneath. It is there to keep automated traffic out.
- Select Reset Password. eFit emails you a one-time link.
- Open the link, choose a new password, and submit. You land on a page that says Your password has been updated.
- Select Sign In Now and log in with the new password.
The link works once, and it is for your account only. Do not forward it.
"This link no longer works"
This is the message students most often read as a lockout, and it usually means the opposite. eFit keeps an audit record of every reset attempt, and of the links that produced this page, the large majority had already completed a successful reset. The most common cause is opening the emailed link a second time, often from a mail app that reloads the message.
So before you request anything else:
- Go to the sign-in page.
- Try the new password you just set.
If that works, nothing was ever wrong. If eFit can tell that your link was already used, it says so plainly with a page headed Password Already Changed, and the right next step there is to sign in rather than request another link.
If the new password genuinely does not work, request a fresh link and use the newest email. Older links stop working once a newer one is issued.
The reset email never arrives
Work through these in order.
- Check your junk and spam folders. This is the single most common answer.
- Check the address eFit has for you. The reset goes to the email on your eFit profile, which may be an address you no longer read. If you entered your username rather than your email, the message still goes to that profile address.
- School addresses filter aggressively. District and college mail systems quarantine outside mail, and some deliver it to a folder you have to go looking for. If you have a personal address, it is worth trying a reset while signed in later so your profile carries one that reaches you.
- Give it a few minutes before requesting again. Requesting repeatedly issues a new link each time and retires the previous one, so the oldest email in your inbox is the one least likely to work.
If nothing arrives after all of that, open a support ticket and say which email address and username you tried.
You might have two accounts
A common pattern behind "my password works but eFit looks wrong": you registered once, something went wrong, and you registered again. Now there are two accounts, and only one of them holds your class and your activity.
Signs of it:
- You sign in successfully and the dashboard shows no course, or the wrong course.
- Your steps are missing entirely even though your tracker is connected.
- You remember using a slightly different username, for example with or without a trailing number.
Do not try to fix this by registering a third time. Open a ticket and list every username you think you created, plus the email address on each. We merge the accounts so that your activity, your enrolment and your grade end up in one place.
