Understanding Your Weekly Activity Grade

How Your Weekly Grade is Calculated

Your weekly activity grade is based on your fitness tracker data. Understanding how it works helps you stay on track.

What are ExerDays?

ExerDays (Exercise Days) is the number of your best activity days that count toward your weekly grade. Most courses require 5 ExerDays per week, though your instructor may set a different requirement.

This means if you have 7 days of activity, only your top 5 days (by step count) are used for grading. This gives you flexibility - you can have a couple of low-activity days without it hurting your grade.

Weekly Grade Calculation

Each week, the system:

  1. Collects all your daily activity from your connected tracker
  2. Sorts your days by step count (highest to lowest)
  3. Takes your top ExerDays (typically 5 days)
  4. Calculates the average steps from those days
  5. Compares this to the course requirements to determine your grade

Activity Metrics by Tracker

Different trackers measure activity differently:

  • Fitbit: Uses "Active Minutes" (fairly active + very active minutes)
  • Google Fit: Uses "Heart Points" (intensity-based scoring)
  • Garmin: Uses intensity minutes similar to Google Fit

Viewing Your Grades

To check your weekly and semester grades:

  1. Log in to your eFit dashboard
  2. Click Grades in the navigation menu
  3. View your weekly breakdown and running semester average

Holidays and Exceptions

Your instructor may designate certain dates as holidays (like Thanksgiving or Spring Break). On these days:

  • The system accounts for reduced activity expectations
  • You won't be penalized for lower step counts
  • Check your course syllabus for designated holiday dates

Tips for Success

  • Sync daily - Open your fitness app each day to ensure data transfers
  • Stay consistent - Aim for steady activity across the week
  • Check early - Review your activity mid-week to ensure you're on track
  • Use rest days wisely - With 5 ExerDays required, you have 2 "off" days built in
