How eFit Points Work

eFit awards points based on your physical activity intensity. Points can be calculated using heart rate data (preferred) or step count.

Heart Rate-Based Calculation

When heart rate data is available, points are calculated based on intensity zones:

Intensity Zone Heart Rate Range Points Earned
Moderate 64-76% of Max HR 1 point per minute
Vigorous 77%+ of Max HR 2 points per minute

Maximum Heart Rate Formula

Your maximum heart rate is calculated as:

205.8 - (0.685 × Age)

Example: For a 30-year-old:
Max HR = 205.8 - (0.685 × 30) = 185 BPM

The 5-Minute Continuous Activity Rule

To earn points, you must maintain moderate or vigorous heart rate for at least 5 continuous minutes.

  • If you have only 4 minutes of qualifying activity, no points are awarded
  • Once you hit 5 minutes, all 5 minutes count, plus any additional continuous minutes
  • Each minute is evaluated independently based on average heart rate

Steps-Based Calculation

When heart rate data isn't available, points are calculated based on step cadence:

Activity Step Cadence Points Earned
Brisk Walking 100+ steps/minute 1 point per minute
Running 130+ steps/minute 2 points per minute

Calculation Priority

  1. Heart rate calculation takes priority when data is available
  2. You can manually switch to steps-based calculation using the toggle on the Home screen
  3. If heart rate data is unavailable, the app automatically falls back to steps

Daily Goal

The default daily points goal is 100 points. This aligns with health guidelines recommending at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week.
