Paying for eFit, and Promo Codes

eFit charges a one-off fee of $59 for the semester, taken during registration. Some schools and some instructors cover it with a code instead.

Ask your instructor whether your course provides a code before you pay. This is the single most common avoidable problem we see. Students pay the fee, find out afterwards that a code was available, and then have to ask for the money back. One question in class or one email settles it.

Where the code goes

On the payment step there is a small link above the payment buttons that reads Do you have a promo code?. It is closed until you select it, so it is easy to miss if you are not looking for it. Select it, type your code into the box, and eFit checks it as you go.

Depending on the code, one of two things happens:

  • A discount code lowers the amount, and you pay the reduced price through the same buttons.
  • A free-access code settles the whole fee. Your account is activated straight away and there is nothing to pay. You can then sign in at efit.health with the username and password you just created.

What a valid code looks like

  • Four or eight characters, letters and numbers only. No spaces, no dashes.
  • Codes are not case sensitive, and any punctuation you type is ignored.
  • Some are single use, which means the first person to enter one consumes it.
  • Some are tied to a school, an instructor or a specific course. A code that works perfectly for a friend in another class is rejected for yours, and that is the code working correctly rather than failing.
  • Codes can carry an expiry date, and can be switched off by whoever issued them.

"That code is not valid"

eFit gives the same answer for several situations, so work through them in order:

  1. Check the characters. Zero and the letter O, and one and the letter l, account for a good share of rejected codes. Retype it rather than pasting.
  2. Check it is yours. A code issued for another school, another instructor or another course will not apply to your registration.
  3. Check it has not been used. Single-use codes work once. If a code was shared around a group chat, someone else may already have spent it.
  4. Check with your instructor that the code is still active and that you have the current one.

If all four check out and it still will not take, open a ticket with the code, your username, and the course you are registering for.

Some schools pay for everyone

If your institution has an arrangement with eFit, you never reach the payment step at all. Registration finishes and your account is active immediately. If your classmates are being asked to pay and you are not, nothing has gone wrong.

I paid, and then found out there was a code

Get the code from your instructor first, so that there is something concrete to check against, then open a ticket with:

  • your eFit username
  • the date you paid and the amount
  • the code your course provides, and who told you about it

Send it as soon as you realise. These are looked at case by case, and the sooner one arrives the more straightforward it is to sort out.

I paid but my account is still inactive

Give it a few minutes and sign out and back in. Payment confirmation arrives from the payment provider rather than from your browser, so it can land shortly after the page finishes, and eFit also sweeps for payments that completed without activating.

If you are still locked out after that, open a ticket with your username, the date, and the transaction or receipt number from your payment confirmation email. That number is what lets us match your payment to your account.

The semester fee and eFit Ongoing are different things

The $59 fee covers your course for the semester. eFit Ongoing is a separate, optional subscription you may be offered when your term ends, so that your grades, badges and history stay available and you can keep tracking afterwards. You never need eFit Ongoing to complete your course, and paying your semester fee does not sign you up for it.
